From Chloe:
Voiceover and Voice Acting have been solid income sources for me for the past 15 years, and they use and expand skills that feed back into my original music projects. I've voiced my way to projects like: a virtual reality piece about dolphins, aimed at conservation; an award-winning animated piece for Greenpeace Democracy; a funny video for Google Trivia; a tear-rendering commercial about the realities of new parenting, a video game involving a device that rewinds time, and a 2-season cyberhacker audiodrama with co-star Michael C Hall. I now make a crazy-healthy living, and I think I can honestly say my clients love working with me and often depend on me for creative input.
But this didn't magically happen. I developed a love for the whole process: the intrinsic act of bringing a script to life, and the interface with clients.
I'm excited to share with you the 4 elements that have served as the foundation of my career. They might sound a little abstract. But we'll apply each very specifically, paying most attention to script performance but also touching on your relationship with yourself and with your clients.
We'll dive deeply into the art of reading in an authentic, engaging, own-it kind of way. My teaching style is less "raise your inflection here, be big there" and more "pretend you wrote this script and you really believe in it." It's not for the faint of heart. You'll see (but it's really fun).
This course is not designed to take you from beginner to seasoned master. Becoming really great at storytelling, not to mention making money at voiceover, are two things that might come in time. They are not guaranteed, despite what the internet might tell you. But the course IS designed for both newbies and pros who want to lean into the artistry of the voicing process.
Looking forward to working with you all. :) Chloe
Note: We’ll be spotlighting the most common (and often most lucrative) voiceover categories: commercial, educational, and short narration (under 5 minutes). Audiobook narration and voice acting for animation/gaming require the same root skills, but are only briefly covered, as these fields have different workflows, and are approached a bit differently, both from artistic and industry standpoints.
